The Most Unrelenting Fantasies In Bruce Morgan's B&W Illustrations

Marc Bourgne was born in Versailles on March 11, 1967. The eldest of five children, he grew up in Rambouillet, in Yvelines. His discovery of comics happened when he was six years old: reading The Crab with the Golden Claws was a revelation and decided his vocation: “When I grow up, I will be Hergé!” Afterwards, he spent his free time inventing stories and drawing them. This is how, by lining up the boards throughout school holidays, he learned about comics...

"Serious" Job

Eager to have a "serious" job to ensure his livelihood until he managed to get published (he gave himself ten years to succeed). Morgan studied history at the Sorbonne, where he received his master's degree in 1989 with a dissertation on Alaska.

First Comic

Then, while starting to teach history and geography in two Parisian colleges, he sent one of his holiday comics to four publishers. This comic was the first that he considered good enough to submit to publishers: it was La grande Terre (Fig.2), which would become his first published album.

Immense Luck

He finished his first term as a teacher, then he quit so he could focus on comics. Subsequently, he had the immense luck of never experiencing any period of inactivity, putting together albums and series. In 1997 followed a comic book about the history of Monaco ("L' Histoire de Monaco"). After working on "Barbe-Rouge" with author Christian Perrissin, his own album series "Frank Lincoln" (Fig.3) was created in 2000. In addition to the comics, Bourgnes works as an illustrator for Hachette and Fleurus and in advertising.

Perversions

Despite his great productivity in the erotic genre, Bourgne prefers not to be associated with these "perversions" and therefore uses the anagram Bruce Morgan. In his erotic comic art he delves into the depths of human desire and struggle, particularly evident in his four seminal works: "Sex Slave" ("L' Esclave Sexuelle"), "The Schoolteacher" ("La Institutrice"), "The Rematch" ("La Revanche"), and "La Vicieuse".

Taboo-Breaking

In Morgan's universe, heroines grapple with their own sexual impulses and aspirations, navigating a tumultuous journey where they must retain their identity and integrity amidst the throes of passion. His female protagonists epitomize strength, resilience, and dignity, even as they confront the darkest recesses of their desires. Morgan's illustrations are bold, unapologetic, and taboo-breaking, offering a stark portrayal of human sexuality.

No Sugar-Coating

Central to the allure of Morgan's works is his uncompromising approach to openness and depiction. There's no sugar-coating or veiling of the subject matter; instead, readers are confronted with raw, unfiltered portrayals of eroticism and human vulnerability. Unlike conventional erotic comics, Morgan's characters transcend mere sexual stereotypes, evolving into fully fleshed-out personalities with depth and complexity.

Gratuitous Objectification

The narratives woven by Morgan captivate audiences with their poignant exploration of physical and mental exploitation. However, unlike the gratuitous objectification often seen in similar works, Morgan's storytelling is marked by nuance and sensitivity. His protagonists are not mere victims but resilient individuals grappling with their circumstances.

Thought-Provoking Exploration

Morgan's artistic style, characterized by simple yet evocative black and white illustrations, is a testament to his mastery of the craft. With a keen eye for anatomy and composition, he brings his characters and their struggles to life with remarkable clarity and precision. In essence, Bruce Morgan's erotic art transcends the boundaries of conventional comic erotica, offering a thought-provoking exploration of desire, power, and human resilience.

Mia Without Underwear

Below you can find a selection of some of the most depraved images we came across coming from the almost 400 page comic book Mia Sans Dessous (Mia Without Underwear).

Summary of Mia Sans Dessous (Mia Without Underwear):

Mia is a pretty 20-year-old blonde, allergic to underwear. To escape people who are looking for her, she leaves Paris for Lyon. There, she thinks she has found the ideal “hideout”: a good one with rich people. But she is forced to submit to the sexual whims of her masters, including the cook and the gardener. The daughter of the house takes her with her to harvest the grapes, then forces her to prostitute herself. She must satisfy crude and vulgar men. Mia runs away and hitchhikes. A pretty girl in a miniskirt and no panties has no problem finding a truck driver... nice! She spends a moment in Nice, then follows a young man to Morocco. Unfortunately, unbeknownst to him, he is carrying drugs. They are arrested and Mia is sent to a very special re-education camp.
