There's no better way to start writing this article than with the question: Who is Jun Hayami? If we type his name in google search, the information we will find about him will be scarce, such as that he was born in the city of Hiroshima and had his debut in Weekly Shonen. Thus, if the name Jun Hayami indicates almost nothing about the subject it names, it’s his work that it points to.
Ero Guro Nonsense
When we read his mangas, we can link them to the ero guro nonsense, since, in them sex is treated brutally through fetishes, obsessions and extreme violence in narratives in which grotesque and nonsense are mixed. In the manga Hentai Shounen: Jun no Koufuku na Hibi (Fig. 1 to 23), we follow, in 14 stories, all these characteristics that define the ero guro nansensu, from the fantasies of a character whose name is the same as its author, Jun Hayami.
Georges Bataille
By denying access to his biography and giving his own name to one of his characters, the artist seeks in the fictional to create a world about which everything can be said and shown, in the same way as Georges Bataille takes a stand in relation to literature: “Literature is indeed, like the transgression of the moral law, a danger. Being inorganic, it’s irresponsible. Nothing weighs on it. It can say everything” (BATAILLE, Georges. Oeuvres complètes IX. Paris: Gallimard, 1979, p. 182).
Sexual Abuse
This lack of limits leads us, several times, in stories, to no longer know how to differentiate, from the characters' perspective, what is desire or reality. Thus, as a game of the imaginary, the narratives built around the protagonist at the same time point to nonsense, since situations occur without a defined cause and are impregnated with pain and suffering, which Jun Hayami, the character, compulsively seeks to justify his existence. If pain and suffering are inseparable from life, the way Jun Hayami handles them varies from story to story. In “Ii Shi Tabidachi” (A Good Day to Die) (Fig. 24 to 39), the mangaka manages to create a visual poem, in which the disappointment, evil and despair, to which the character Ryouko is subjected, serve as a denunciation not only of the sexual abuse that she suffers for those who should protect her, but reveal the impossibility of finding a way out of all this suffering except in death.
Coprophilia
At other times, as in the story “That's Sick”, Jun Hayami manages to turn a teenage couple's relationship into drama, when the boyfriend, Junichi, begins to be more interested in his girlfriend's feces than in sex itself and she becomes feels like betrayed by it (Fig. 40 to 43). If, for Jun Hayami's characters, coprophilia is a behavior as humiliating as it is pleasurable, like being raped by a dog (Fig. 44 to 47), poking your own penis with pins (Fig. 48 to 50 -in Premium), self-mutilate, to be treated incestuously like a table by his own sister (Fig. 51 to 54 - in Premium), for that keeping a mangled and rotting foot in the fridge wouldn't be too? (Fig. 55 - in Premium).
Universal Rapist
There is no limit to Jun Hayami's imagination, as in his manga everything is allowed. Even God is not spared, as we can see in his story “Love Letter from Kanata” (Love Letter from Far Away) (Fig. 56 to 79 - in Premium), in which he is described as a universal rapist and murderer, who has been active since the beginning of humanity. In this sense, if there is no hope for God, Jun Hayami chooses to transform any and all misfortunes into poetic obscenity, as we can see in “Maggot Hole” (Fig. 80 to 89 - in Premium) and “Sakuya kara Eien ni” (From Yesterday Night to Eternity) (Fig. 91 to 95 - in Premium), by stating, for through sex and violence, death as what sustains life and reveals, at the same time, the fragility and perversity of the own human species.
