Joe Pekar, born in 1972, is an American illustrator and digital artist whose career is closely linked to the world of independent comics and erotic art. He graduated from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, where he studied 3D animation in the mid-1990s. He began his professional career in the multimedia field and later transitioned into the video game industry, working as a 3D character animator and digital artist.
All of Pekar's illustrations are developed through digital processes. Some of the images are initially hand-drawn and later scanned into the computer, while others are conceived entirely within the digital environment. Even though digital tools are central to his creative process, Pekar consistently strives to avoid a final product that appears overly artificial or mechanical, aiming instead for an aesthetic that echoes the materiality of traditional techniques.

With extensive experience in digital art, gained during his years creating texture maps for video games and developing concept art, Pekar values, above all, the possibilities for experimentation that digital platforms offer.
