A Hot, Boiling Pleasure Deep In Her Crotch

During a hot summer afternoon a young beauty is using a fan to cool her private parts. Through the dialogue it becomes clear that she has spent all day on a roof boat (yakatabune *), but even though she had gone to cool off, she felt a hot, boiling pleasure deep in her crotch. The man outside the picture reacts by saying, 'That's how big it is, but there's no other mara (slang for 'vagina') that feels that good.'

Cricket

The illustration comes from a book series from around 1855 entitled Nezamedoko ikuyo no mutsugoto and was designed by Utagawa Kunisada (1786-1865). Nice details are the cricket sitting on the lantern (fig.1b) and the belching incense burner (to ward off mosquitoes) behind her. The summer breeze is suggested by the moving smoke coming trom the incense burner (fig.1c), and the swinging kimono hanging above her.
